Recently back from their successful ‘Our Hearts Collide’ UK tour, From Inside are one to watch in the UK rock scene, after the release of 2018’s ‘When I’m Breathing Without You’ the band saw sky high praise from fans, and press.
Even though they’ve just got back the boys are heading back out on the road this August, we talk tour life, festival dream line ups, and the true meaning behind their Ep ‘When I’m Breathing Without You!’

More Than A Millennial: The band originate from Liverpool, birthplace to some incredible talent. Musically who influenced you all to start a band? How did you all meet?
From Inside: Being from Liverpool where music has always been in the foundations of our culture, its safe to say that we have been influenced all our lives by various different bands. Aside from our obvious heavy influences, we are influenced from local bands like ‘The Beatles’ and ‘Echo & The Bunnymen’. George our drummer is in fact from an indie rock background and particularly enjoys the drumming from bands like ‘The Killers’ and ‘The Wools’. We really all just met in the local scene from performing in different bands.
MTAM: The release of ‘When I’m Breathing Without You’ released in 2018 garnering a huge response from not only fans but media alike. How did it feel to have such a positive reaction to something you've worked so hard on?
FI: It was very humbling! So much hard work goes on behind the scenes so it’s such a great feeling when people are finally able to hear our music.
MTAM: What was the concept of the album, how do you get about the writing process is it a relatively easy thing?
FI: Our bassist Bam came up with the concept… sort of! Even though the album has a very deep personal concept with the lyrics, the name itself is kind of funny really. Bam can’t swim so when we were on holiday he had to use a float to get in the pool. We kept stealing his float and it made him flap around almost drowning. ‘When I’m Breathing Without You’ was the act of stealing his float (laughing)
MTAM: For newcomers to your music how would you describe your sound, and what songs are your fave to recommend?
FI: Emotional. Crushing. Rock. Most people recognise us from our song ‘Helpless’ from its coverage on Kerrang! but ‘Still Breathing’ is easily our favourite one to perform live.
MTAM: You’ve just come back from your ‘Our Heart’s Collide’ UK tour and now about to set of on a range of summer dates, what do you love most about being on the road?
FI: Touring is the best part of being in a band. Exploring new places, eating junk food (mostly Wotsits for George) and meeting new people, it just beats working a 9-5 job! However, try telling that to our guitarist Booth who spends most of the time crying because he misses his puppy dog so much (laughs) All in good fun though. We are back out again in August and we can’t wait.

MTAM: You get to put together your own festival, with no restrictions. Who would be your dream line up and why?
FI: Let’s go with the following: AC/DC, Rammstein, Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Evanescence (for Bam), The Wools (for George) and of course; FROM INSIDE. All awesome bands.
MTAM: If you all had to choose to listen to three songs for the rest of your life what would they be and why?
FI: Doomsday – Architects
The Thong Song – Sisqo
Numb – Linkin Park
Nice variation of songs there and don’t think we could get bored of them easily!
MTAM: The music scene is dominated by a variety of places for bands to showcase their music, (Spotify, YouTube, Twitter etc) are social media platforms hindering artists or giving them an opportunity to reach out further to new fans?
FI: There is most definitely pluses and minuses to social media. It gives bands a platform to showcase music however it also hinders bands as it’s tough to make a living with free streaming such a widespread thing. Whether we like it or not, it’s here to stay so all we can do is be positive and use social media to our advantage.
MTAM: What's next on the cards for the bands, who would you love to collaborate or work with in the future?
FI: We are back out on the road again in August which is next on our schedule. We would love to calibrate with Cale Lane sometime if the opportunity ever arose however we do have new music dropping this autumn. Watch this space…
