How to be a Diva....

2019 has begun, which means so has the book reading challenge. As previous post would have it last year saw my reading increased which has led to healthy thinking and productivity to decrease screen time.
Whilst the to be read pile has grown over christmas, the first book i chose to read was Michelle Visage ‘Diva Rules’ Now I love Rupaul's Drag Race, I've watched all the seasons, fell in love with the energy of the show. Grown in confidence enough to love myself, meet new friends though the show and even have an online magazine which leads to working with drag queens. Yet the one person i’ve never really learnt much about yet has been on every episode from season three is Michelle Visage. Now we all know Rupaul is everyone's drag mother, now Michelle Visage is that and our adopted parent.
This book which highlights how to be a diva and how to not let that sparkle die sounds very cliche, and something you'd perhaps see in the Young Adult fiction aisle. Sounds harsh but this is a review. However I adore Michelle she is loud, brassy and the epitome of a strong hard working women, reading the book is everything you'd expect. I actually really enjoyed reading this book, it was easy to read and felt like sitting down with a beloved friend.
The things I learnt from this true diva is that you truly can do anything you put your mind to, the mindset is the forefront focus. Do not let anyone tell you can't do things, be your own boss, and allow a lasting impression on others by being; nice. A rule that is probably well overlooked is that doing something small as being nice is actually some people find a lacking trait for divas, we know divas to be bold, want their red m&ms only etc but Michelle knows just what goes into being a diva. Her career ethics is something I really admire, not allowing her dreams to diminish even when she's been knocked back.
A short and sweet review but this book is something every career drive, hard working woman should have in their arsenal to achieve their goals. For those who perhaps just want to become more fierce and flaunt your Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent then this is the perfect starters guide.
