Bring Me The Horizon are back with brand new music, and to say its different is one hell of an understatement. Last summer fans were treated to brand new single 'Mantra' the song which is incredibly catchy and got everyone in a frenzy of the band back with brand spanking new stuff. The song which has now been nominated for a well deserved Grammy, had set the tone for expectations of the new album. First came the single then came the announcement of Amo, and a world tour to follow.

Now I could write an essay on how amazing my experience at the Alexandra Palace show in November was, but this is the album review and I'm trying to not fangirl over the place. Hint: IT WAS THE BEST.

Waiting ever so patiently for the album to drop, we as a fan base were treated to a further three released singles. Each one was so incredibly different and fans lost the preconceived idea of what the new album would sound like. Each song bringing a different array of genre of music, Medicine perhaps being one of the slowest songs they've realised in a long time had old fans giving generic responses of "Liking the old music better," "Sell outs" and my personal favourite "I miss the old Bring Me The Horizon"

How are we supposed to let bands experiment with new music and let us all indulge in the change together? If they stuck to one sound then things would be so incredibly dull, its fun to see how creative the songs have been produced and the difference in past tracks.

Most bands have changed direction and had a go at trying different sounds, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore and You Me At Six are just a few bands accused of abandoning their emo/rock scene in favour for radio friendly tracks. But what is so bad about this? Is the real reason that dedicated fans don't want to share their band with brand new fans, this to me seems to be the real reason. People love to bring others down for liking new music, and becoming a new fan. Isn't it great that they've managed to expand to a new group of people who in turn can relate to their music, be happy and thus give us more future shows for a demand with new music?

If this wasn't the case the music would dwindle and we'd get less shows/content of the band would be around, all for the sake of a few disgruntled fans who miss the suicide season era, the petty level is real. The band have acknowledged these fans on the track 'Heavy Metal', the track calling out Instagram fans who complain in the comment section about the bands new music. The beauty in this is we are all in the joke together, these so called fans are of course allowed this opinion of the difference in music, however leaving pointless comments leads to nowhere.

Lead up to the album the band said of the new direction

Mother Tongue, In The Dark, Heavy Metal, and Sugar, Honey, Ice and Tea for me personally are the stand out tracks of Amo. Each one is so different, catchy, lyrically perfect and already becoming general fan favourites.

Whilst some tracks do leave you going eh? and thinking is this Bring Me The Horizon, my best advice is to listen to it more than once. By the third time around the less stand out tracks you then appreciate the effort musically that has gone into it.

For me the album had a lot to live up to after the monumental success of 'That's The Spirit' that album once again was a different style for the band, but the music created somewhat of a story. Yet this album is so unexpected in terms of songs going from 'Medicine' to 'Heavy Metal' you can tell the fun the band had with the album, I for one cannot wait to see what they do next.....
